At ISWA, our Primary School students are encouraged to develop independence and take responsibility for their own learning, through a child-centred and inquiry-based approach to education.
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning at ISWA’s Primary School is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). It is learner-centred and inquiry-based, with a strong focus on building exceptional numeracy and literacy skills while promoting independence and a lifelong love of learning.
The IB PYP is a framework to deliver the Australian Curriculum. The IB PYP is recognised worldwide as one of the most advanced international programmes for primary students, helping to foster global citizens.
Our students utilise a range of transferrable skills, develop core knowledge of the curriculum, and explore conceptual understandings. This rigorous approach to learning enables students to make connections across learning areas of Languages (English and LOTE), Social Studies, Mathematics, Arts, Science as well as Personal, Social & Physical Education.
By exploring local, national and international topics within the classroom, students develop global understanding, strong values and a responsibility to be socially aware.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we are on, the Whadjuk (Perth region) people and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge, respect and seek to learn from their wisdom, continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.
